Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our services, certifications and global coverage.

Where are Extinval's offices and technical headquarters located?

We have a network of our own offices and service centres to ensure global logistics coverage: Headquarters (HQ): Carrer Serra d'Espadà, 28, Aldaia (Valencia, Spain). Spanish offices: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Almería. United States: Offices in New Jersey (Harrison), Louisiana (Saint Rose), California (Alameda) and regional coverage from Houston/Miami. International Americas: Service centres in Panama and Canada.

What certifications underpin your inspection services?

Our processes operate under ISO 9001:2015 certification. We are audited and approved by the leading IACS classification societies: DNV, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas (BV), ABS and RINA. This allows us to issue certificates valid for the most demanding flags (Spain/EU, Panama, Liberia, Bahamas, Marshall Islands).

How can I contact the technical team about an incident?

You can reach us directly by phone (+34 96 367 40 53) or email ([email protected]). Our technical team will handle your enquiry and get back to you as soon as possible.

How do you guarantee the vessel passes Port State Control (PSC) without detentions?

We apply a "total technical protection" protocol. We review and certify all survival (LSA) and fire-fighting (FFE) systems under strict SOLAS / IMO regulations, guaranteeing the operational readiness of equipment in the Engine Room, Deck and Bridge to ensure "Zero Deficiencies".

Are you able to certify lifeboats and davits of Asian origin?

Absolutely. We carry out annual and five-yearly inspections (including structural load testing) being certified by leading European manufacturers (Hatecke, Global Davit) and major Asian Key Players (Jiangsu Jiaoyan, Shigi, Mansei, Oriental, Hyundai/Bada and Qingdao Beihai).

Is it possible to calibrate all equipment in a single on-board visit?

Yes. We optimise port call time by certifying in a single intervention gas detectors, breathalysers, pressure gauges and UTI (Interface/Temperature) gauges, providing full traceability for PSC and oil company vetting.

What happens if the vessel calls at a secondary port where Extinval has no office?

We deploy our Flying Squads — rapid-response technical teams who travel to the port of call. The vessel does not need to deviate from its commercial route, minimising downtime. We also hold decentralised OEM spare parts stock in Panama and the USA for fast shipments.

Are you qualified to work in explosive atmospheres (ATEX)?

Yes. Our specialists manage and calibrate fixed sensor networks (LEL, H2S, CO, O2) and optical flame detectors (IR/UV) in ATEX environments. We also supply fleets of multi-gas detectors and intrinsically safe emergency communications (UHF/VHF Radios, PLB).

What specific maintenance do fire suppression systems on platforms require?

We carry out comprehensive maintenance of large CO2 banks, clean agent systems (Novec 1230 / Inergen) and fluidisation and line purging tests on large fixed powder stations (Skids) designed to combat high-pressure gas fires (Jet Fires).

Is it mandatory to analyse the foam concentrates in deluge systems?

Yes, it is a regulatory requirement. We carry out laboratory chemical analysis of foam concentrates (AR-AFFF) subjected to extreme marine conditions. We also have the capacity for immediate supply of new fluorine-free formulas (SFFF) in 1,000L IBC format.

How do you protect personnel against leaks of lethal gases such as H2S?

We supply emergency escape breathing devices (EEBD) and carry out maintenance of breathable air cascade systems (Air Cascade Systems). We certify high-pressure compressors under EN 12021 to guarantee 100% safe air in confined spaces.

What does the "White Glove" approach mean for your on-board inspections?

We understand that aesthetics are fundamental on a superyacht. Our staff carefully protects teak decks and premium interiors during the inspection of extinguishers and fixed systems (FFE), guaranteeing a clean intervention with no visual impact.

Are there fire extinguishers that comply with regulations without altering the yacht's design?

Yes, we stock the "Yacht Line" collection. These are high-efficacy extinguishers with premium finishes (Chrome, Matt Black, White and Carbon Fibre) designed to integrate perfectly with the aesthetics of luxury saloons and cabins.

Which fixed systems do you recommend to protect the engine room without damaging the engines?

We recommend and install clean agents (Novec 1230, FM-200 or HFC-227ea) or ultra-compact aerosol generators (Stat-X / FirePro). These systems extinguish fire without leaving residues harmful to high-value electronics or machinery.

What life-saving (LSA) and safety electronics equipment do you manage?

We inspect ISO 9650 liferafts (brands such as Almara Live, Neptuno, Seawolf) with a pontoon collection service. As an official ACR Electronics service station, we also certify EPIRBs, PLBs and AIS transponders (Class A and B), and handle certified disposal of expired pyrotechnics.

What does a maritime sector company bring to an industrial land-based installation?

We transfer the extreme discipline, certifications and documentary traceability demanded by maritime regulations (IACS) to chemical plants, logistics warehouses and data centres. This ensures that sprinkler, powder or foam systems offer maximum reliability onshore.

How do you prevent false alarms that cause production stoppages?

We conduct Sensitivity Audits on centralised detection systems (Siemens, Honeywell, Hochiki, Apollo, Notifier) to ensure early response to real fires without false alarms caused by dust, humidity or high industrial temperatures.

Is it possible to upgrade the fire system in my premises without civil construction works?

Yes. We install wireless detection systems that require no cables or wall routing, reducing installation time by half. We also implement Condensed Aerosols — a molecular suppression technology with no ecological impact that can be installed in a single day without pipework.

Are gas detector calibrations carried out in industry legally valid?

Absolutely. We issue calibration certificates for confined spaces with standards traceable to national and international bodies (ENAC / PTB / NIST), ensuring your company passes any inspection by Industry or Occupational Risk authorities.
